Depending on the province you are located in, the government may require you to cease operations temporarily if you do not provide an essential service. The definition of 'essential service' varies from province to province, so you will have to check with your provincial government to ensure that your business is allowed to remain open during coronavirus (COVID-19) closures and lockdown. If non-essential businesses remain open, they may face fines for non-compliance.
Yes. However, Income tax return submissions for individuals have been extended to June 1st, 2020. And GST/HST remittances for businesses have been extended until June 30th, 2020. For taxes owed between March 18, 2020 and September 2020 until after August 31, 2020. Furthermore, Penalties & Interest relief will be provided to businesses and individuals affected by COVID-19 on a case-by-case basis.
