When does my small business need to repay any Canadian government grants it receives?

The Canadian government business grants are funds you do not have to repay that are conditionally provided to a business. In principal, a start-up is able to qualify for government business grants. Depending on the grant, the funds can be applied to purchase equipment, advertising and marketing, to conduct a feasibility study, or for any purpose that meets the particular grant guidelines. A start-up may want to pay fees to research agents or for the preparation of a business plan. The funds could also be given ‘in kind’ for e-services. These may include free consulting, marketing or education programs. A start-up would want to demonstrate that you, as the founder, have the capacity to deliver on your commitments.
